Hello!

We have had both tropical and fresh water aquariums at some stage and found they are both alot of work. We haven’t had any fish for quite some time and are considering getting some. Which do you find is better?

  • Tropical fish can be so beautiful and exotic, but you’re right they are all hard to care for. It’s definitely a time consuming pet that unfortunately I’m unable to care for right now

  • I’ve heard that tropical fish is harder to look after because the water has to be regulated, kept warm. We have only gold fish, fresh water. Quite easy to look after as long as you have the filter and bubbles in the water.

  • I think many of us have learned the lesson that any fish are hard work! lol.
Tropical tanks look amazing but you just have to be ready for the upkeep and the expense. Cheers to those that stick at it.

  • They are SO much work but definitely amazing and incredible to look at. Ive heard it takes a lot and can be quite expensive to set up before even purchasing the fish. Then once you have the filters and lights going, it can be costly for electricity too

  • I often looked at fish tanks and thought they would be easy pets to have. How wrong was I!?!? No way! A lot of work, a lot of trial and error and a lot of death
