Hello!

How has everyone gone with adding a new puppy or pet to their house hold with an already existing pet? Did your current pet take to the new addition well? How long was the adjustment period?

  • We added a new puppy when out boy dog was around 2, he was indifferent, she adored him and tormented him! He is a sweetheart so tolerates her and and the love has grown since

  • I don’t have any dogs unfortunately, we just don’t have the backyard. We have 2 indoor cats, a bird and a fish. I’m here to read others comments. Good luck with the new pup.

  • We picked up our Pomeranian puppy just before Christmas, she has been the best thing ever for our family. We meet so many people up the street now because they all love how small she is.

  • Yes and it all went well. Our Jack Russell was about 4 when a stray Cattle Dog turned up. She was only about 4 months old. (We did eventually find the owners but they didn’t want her). The Jack Russell was put out at first. She used to leave her biscuits in her bowl to graze throughout the day but once Missy came along she had to guard them or eat them in one sitting lol.

  • I had an 11yo staffy x red heeler when I adopted a maltese shihtsu puppy. At first, the old boy was a bit dubious and grumpy but he got over it pretty quick. I think puppy gave him a new lease on life, he had a new pep in his step. He was eurhanisef and a few years later I adopted a staffy x kelpie. No issues whatsoever. Maltese shihtsu has always been the boss, bossing him around, which can be funny to see

  • I think it depends on your dogs temperament and you’d know them best. How do they normally react to dogs in passing when outside or going for walks? And with others? The best thing you could do is trial first and introduce them slowly. Im sure like any new addition, there is always an adjustment period

  • We had an 11yo dog when we bought home a new puppy. Everyone said the older one would react badly to a puppy at his age. They were fine, spent ages playing together. I think new pup gave old dog a new lease on life
