Hello!

I’ve seen many people use different ways, dogs in the boot, dogs with seatbelts, dogs with car seats/beds and middle car blanket/screens the dogs sit in and can’t jump over. What do you do?

  • All my siblings have leads that can hook up to a strap in the back seat. Helps stop any anxious pups trying to make their way to the driver’s seat mid car ride

  • I make sure my dog rides in a proper size-adjusted harness belt rather than just a collar when in the car. It gives much better control (especially when we brake suddenly) and avoids pressure on his neck if he shifts around.

I recently found a really helpful article called “The Best Dog Harness Belt for All Breeds” by PetsPawzz, which breaks down how to measure your pooch, what features to look for (like padding, reflective strips, durable D-rings), and why a harness belt is a smarter choice than a plain collar. You can check it out here: https://petspawzz.com/blogs/news/the-best-dog-harness-belt-for-all-breeds

If you’re thinking of switching your dog’s travel setup, measuring the chest girth and getting a harness that fits snug but comfortable is key. Especially for Aussie summer rides where things can shift more than expected.

What kind of setup do you use for car rides — harness, crate, boot or back seat?

  • We’ve tried those lead attaching seatbelts before but at the moment I’m not a big fan because finding the right length and comfortability is a pain. They work fine if our dogs ride in the boot but just not in the back seat etc
I’m interested in trying the doggy car seats

  • A little dog bed for them for the car! But strapped in to keep them safe
