Hello!

Do you let your dogs drink from public water bowls? I always used to but have recently wondered whether or not it’s safe to. Surely dogs can spread sickness that way wouldn’t they?

  • Yeah I’m still not sure on this one! It’s such a tough one. I agree with the comment about being vaccinated etc but I don’t also worry about tummy bugs etc.
I’m not sure how things like this spread either, it’s probably a case of the more you are exposed the stronger your will be I agree

  • I love the bowls that you can tip out and refill at beaches and parks. Even when we don’t have pets with us I try to tip them out and clean them if they are grubby so the next dog doesn’t have a yucky drink

  • I think the risk of germs would be quite minimal. Dog’s have marvelous immune systems (unlike us humans) and I would think that it would be safe as long as your dog is vaccinated. I always allow my dog to drink if they are thirsty.

  • Hmm no i wouldnt! But ive seen lovely cafes etc that do leave water bowls out for pets. If they are needing water, having some available is better than not. Im not sure whether germs spread in this way though

  • I do but it is very rare. She’ll drink more often from muddy puddles while we are out walking in the bush etc.
