What are your doggo’s favourite treats?
Do you buy them from the shop, pet store or markets, or do you have a go to recipe to make at home?

  • The Love Em Liver treats are a favourite with my dogs. As well as chicken and milk sticks. I dont buy rawhide or Schmackos they’re not good for your dogs

  • Haha! My doggos don’t have favourites – they like anything! I have always found schmackos to be good because they are easily portable and not messy.

  • I do both! My dogs love a Pig Ear and the occasional Liver Treat, but I also make them peanut butter cookies.
    Recipe is easy, I don’t usually measure but its roughly;
    2 cups wholemeal plain flour
2/3 cup natural peanut butter (make sure there is no sweeteners are they are deadly!)
    1/4 cup natural honey
    2 eggs
Water, enough to create a dough-like consistency.

Whisk eggs in a small bowl, add peanut butter and honey and whisk until smooth.
Add egg mixture to a large bowl with the flour.
Gradually add water until your mixture is a dough-like consistency.
Roll into balls or use a cute cookie cutter to create fun shapes.
Place on a lined baking tray. These won’t expands in the oven so you can place them pretty close together.
Bake in a moderate oven for about 10-15 minutes or until just golden.
Store in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.

Can also add some mashed banana to the mix or some purred pumpkin (reduce water with pumpkin)

  • I’ve just recently tried Mimi and munch dog treats. Our dogs couldnt get enough of them and they are small in size so great for training and rewards

  • Im yet to make any of my own. I usually just get things like the green dental sticks and some schmacko treats they always love. I’ll definitely be following to see if anyone else has any doggy treats they make themselves!

  • Chicken necks and large bones her her absolute favourites. We try to do a large bone once per week, especially when we are out for the day, it keeps her occupied. The necks are a now and then treat.

  • What a great question!!
I guess it depends on what I want the treat for… if I’m training, I want something small enough that I can give them quickly and repeatedly, for this I find the Bunnings trusty chicken trainers are great and come In a big bag for around $17
If I’m wanting a bigger treat for a one off reason I’ll often give them bell and bone treats from petbarn as they are healthy and good for teeth.
The best home made treat my dogs love would be cut up bits of cooked chicken or meat – Left overs are always great.
