Are guinea pigs a good first pet?

Hello!

I’ve heard some people say guinea pigs make a great first pet for young kids, but other people say they’re really hard to keep alive! Anyone have any experience with them?

They are low maintenance and adorable pets to have . My niece who is 6 has one and loves it .

My daughter loves her guinea pigs and they have help taught her responsibility and routine as well as cleaning and care skills
