Want to capture the quirky, unique character of your beloved pet? We’re launching Best Pet Buys with a must-enter competition, giving one lucky member the chance to have their pet immortalised in a custom portrait by a talented Australian artist.

Hayley Daniel is a Perth-based artist who specialises in custom hand-drawn pet portraits.

Hayley’s animal portraits bring a quirky twist to each subject, giving them a distinct personality. Her artworks blend realism with a modern flair, offering a fresh take on traditional portraiture art.

Each animal is depicted as the true hero of the piece, framed by bold, pop-coloured backgrounds that have become a signature element of her style.

He loves rides in the car and a cheeky Macca’s run for a cheeseburger. Everyday is a blessing to have him as 12 is very senior in doggy years 💙

  • Ted is my 7 year old Border Collie / Aussie Shepherd and I’ve always wanted a portrait of him. My young daughter always asks about him even when he’s gone to bed so it would be so wonderful to have a portrait of him for us to admire too.

  • A couple of years ago, my husband and I had the unfortunate loss of our first baby. In my darkest moment, where I honestly couldn’t see a way I’d ever experience joy again, we adopted Milo from a local shelter. He gave me purpose and brought light back into my life. We now have his furry brother Oreo, and our daughter Ariel. Milo has helped us form our family and has been there from the lowest point through to our very highest, he saved us.

  • My Rainbow Lorikeet, Bindi, is my 20 year old good-looking gal! She’s small in size but big in personality. She’s lost a few feathers over the years but she’s aging gracefully. She always is so happy to see me come through the door, always chirping her happy song. She lights up my day! Just 2 weeks ago, I sadly noticed some tumours on her. I would love her captured in a custom portrait. I’m not sure how much life she has left? This prize would be a beautiful memory of her.

  • Oscar was a huge part of our family and has left a massive hole in our lives since he passed away. A custom portrait would help our hearts heal and feel like he never left us.

  • We’ve inly had Doza for about 3 weeks, he was a rescue dog. He’s 8.5 years old and we were the only family that enquired about him. We want to give him a loving home in his later years.

  • My fur baby is called Teddy. He is the cutest lap dog on this planet. He absolutely adores my children and loves to socialise with other pups. He is gorgeous and handsome and deserves his very own portrait.

  • Snowy was our daughter’s/grandson’s dog but came to live with us as they live on a Highway and she was getting out. She is much safer here and very spoiled, very often. We adore having her with us and love her cuddles as much as she loves ours. She is a medium dog being a Cattle dog cross Bull Arab.

  • We will be picking up our new rescue boy, DOZER soon & as we haven’t bought him up, there are few photographs of him, love to commemorate this special occasion, besides that he is handsome & has a beard!

  • Our special black and white whippet has bonded very closely with my wife and the two can’t be separated (except for work time) He is a very special boy full of character. I also have two black border collies crossed with a kelpie that in I love very much. We’d love to capture any of these beauties in Hayley’s art work. Thank you!

  • I rescued Bella when she was 1.5 years old. When i first met her, she hid under a trampoline to get away from me. She was abused in the home previous to the one i had got her from. It took 2 months for her to take food out of my hands, then she came leaps and bounds from there. She is now almost 10 years old ( December 17th), and you wouldnt know from looking at her thats that is her past. She has moved houses several times with me, experienced my 3 boys from little babies, loves beach days, loving walks and adventures, but is unfortunately starting to slow down, experiencing pain and stiffness in her joints. I know she doesnt have too much longer, and will do everything humane that i can to help her be pain free and enjoy her last few years, and think this would be an amazing opportunity to have something beautiful to remember her by when the time does come.

  • We adopted the very excitable and very handsome Brocky a couple of weeks ago, after saying goodbye to our 12 year old rescue dog earlier this year. Brocky has brought back the spark that was missing in the house. He’s always so happy!

  • A couple of days ago we had to rush him to the vet and he nearly died. Luckily after 24 hours at the vet he was able to come home and we now have him with us again. Any time we have with Teddy we now consider as bonus time and are appreciating every second with him. We would love a custom portrait of Teddy for when he is no longer her we will always have it to look at and remember him.

  • Jasper’s my Frenchie, is a fart-powered potato with legs, snorts like a chainsaw, and thinks he owns the couch (he’s right).

  • My beautiful girl Kiki is full of love, energy and character, she is 5 this year and makes me happy when I’m down and loves to cuddle up at night on my bed, she is my big boy Leo’s best friend, Kiki is a mixed jack Russell/Chihuahua and leo is a new Zealand huntaway, she also loves our two cats zuess and missy.

  • I never wanted a cat but when I bought my first house and someone offered a cat I thought why not? I picked the runt of the litter, the guy who’d got stuck in a sliding door and burned his paw on a mosquito coil. As soon as I got him home, all my parenting genes kicked in and he became my baby, my best friend through some rough times and my home. When he turned 5 we packed up and moved countries together and he adapted, we walked around our new garden and neighbourhood together and everything was alright. He’s 15 now and slowing down and getting a little grumpy in his old age but my Wolsey is still my baby and we still spend nearly all our free time just cuddling on the couch and being each other’s safe place.

  • With a order fur baby it would be lovely to capture her 💕 as she is our child not a pet

  • I would love a portrait of our Cowardly Lion, Leon. He is around 70kg and is scared of many, many things. Like dark rooms, doorways, a scuff on the floor. He isn’t scared of storms or other dogs, just the important things like entering and exiting rooms. Scary stuff!

  • My cat smudge is stunning but photos really don\’t do him justice. He\’s so majestic I think maybe a custom portrait might really capture how regal he actually is.

  • My girls are 13yrs and 16yrs they mean the world to me and to have a portrait that captures their beauty, personality and souls would mean alot to me as I don’t know how long they have left but a portrait of them will last forever.

  • Hunter, supreme ruler of three, deserves a portrait fit for his royal antics. Side-eye sharper than a dagger, snack heists worthy of legend, and a noble stance atop his plush throne (my couch). Hayley Daniel’s art will immortalise his mischievous majesty in all his glorious, treat-demanding splendour.

  • My toy poodle who has gone through every medical episode with me two babies everything .

  • My crazy puppy Nala is just the light of our lives. She brings so much joy to our family and to have a custom portrait capturing her spunk would be awesome. She’s a Black Lab x Kelpie/Collie so very hard to capture all her essence with our phone cameras

Up on my wall for all to see,

  • We currently have a Whippet called Winnie and a Greyhound called Wally. We’ve had two Whippets in the past and I’d love to get a portrait done of all our fur babies..

  • We have a four-year-old Kelpie Red Heeler who is a fabulous loyal crazy crazy doe who is scared of plastic bags, he also sees “things” on the walls and ceiling. He is also scared of water.

  • Our cavoodle coco is extra special, she was my little boys starlight wish after battling eye cancer at 3yrs old. We would be so grateful and it would be such a special keepsake

  • Daisy is our 4 year old reverse sneezing, bed hogging, all talk (bark), scaredy cat Chihuahua x Beaglier that completes our family and fills our hearts and my camera roll. We love her and we would love to see her immortalised by your art 🙂

  • Cat Jasper RIP :'(
His golden fur glows like sunshine, his purrs soothed my darkest days. His bright eyes and gentle soul brought endless joy. A custom portrait would honor those joyful memories and keep his love alive forever.

  • I would love to get my American Shorthair Cat Duke as a piece of custom portrait as he is only 1 and 7 months old which would make a great memory for me as he is developing into his full body I would have a wonderful piece to look back later in his life when he was much younger.

  • Mums kelpie is a service dog for children with special needs and has won awards for her outfits and comfort… I’d love to surprise mum and her clients.

  • I love my cat! I’ll soon be moving interstate for my studies. It would make my world to have a custom portrait of her ! She is my muse

  • I would love a portrait of our cavoodle, Lollipop, in my daughter’s bedroom. She is the sweetest girl and sadly suffering from anxiety and nightmares. A portrait of her best friend and brother, will help her to sleep better

  • My sweet girl is about to turn 4 and is my best friend. We recently lost her big bro bro, my Mastiff and first fur baby. Pepper has been my constant companion and we have been able to grieve together and love each other fiercely during such a sad time. She brings me happiness and smiles every day and her funny antics always make me laugh.

  • My daughter has just lost her dog and I would love to be able to gift this to her.

  • My little girl Ruby has been my saviour and bestie over the last several years. Lock down was a lonely time and she kept me upbeat with plenty of cuddles.
She is my baby and as she ages, would love for her to be captured so I can have her forever in my life.

  • My pet’s got more attitude than my bras have straps—both stretched and battle-tested! A custom portrait would celebrate our crazy, comfy, perfectly imperfect mum life.

  • Banjo is a crazy, fun loving, gentle giant. He has the purest heart and whilst we have had some comment that he is not pretty, we don’t care, he is our family member and the love goes both ways. He treats our kids (second came along after he joined our family) as if they are his babies and he protects them and is so gentle when he plays, even with our Chihuahua. I would love this portrait of him as he is so hard to get a nice picture of as he is always on the go. We love our boy B and the day we brought him home from the rescue was not the day we rescued him, but the day he became part of the family and helped mend a hole that had been left behind.
