Want to capture the quirky, unique character of your beloved pet? We’re launching Best Pet Buys with a must-enter competition, giving one lucky member the chance to have their pet immortalised in a custom portrait by a talented Australian artist.

Hayley Daniel is a Perth-based artist who specialises in custom hand-drawn pet portraits.

Hayley’s animal portraits bring a quirky twist to each subject, giving them a distinct personality. Her artworks blend realism with a modern flair, offering a fresh take on traditional portraiture art.

Each animal is depicted as the true hero of the piece, framed by bold, pop-coloured backgrounds that have become a signature element of her style.

  • I love my Ollie the Cavoodle, he is shy but is loaded with character. It is Ollie’s 4th birthday tomorrow and this portrait would be just perfect.

  • My beautiful Bella is a 13 year old chihuahua full of beans like the day we bought her. She is a bundle of fluff, sass & joy. And loved by all the family. Her portrait would take pride & place in our home. And treasured forever always.

  • Our 5 year old Boston Terrier has become invaluable for helping us co-regulate and handle tough medical procedures, appointments and surgeries. He’s not a service animal so he can’t accompany us to the exam room, but the moment we are home – the healing begins!

  • We would love a portrait of our puppy who has only 10months old and is full of life and gives the family so much enjoyment. Plus she isn’t just our puppy she is our new member of the family and deserves to have a place on the wall.

  • Coco’s a labradoodle with more energy than a toddler on espresso. Capturing her chaos in a portrait means proof she’s adorable, not just exhausting

  • Charlie is my little hero. He follows me around and keeps me company all day long.
I never worry if he’s up to mischief because he’s right next to me. I would love to have such a treasured picture of him for forever

  • Sir Stanley Ronald, ginger pride, with regal whiskers, eyes open wide. A portrait gift to capture his grace, A noble king in his observing place.

  • I have a new bundle of joy – a precious golden retriever puppy! He is an absolute sweetheart and has never ending energy! I think this gorgeous puppy portrait would capture that (because a camera can’t keep up with him). The finished portrait would give my living area the homeliness it needs.
    Complete with him.

  • Meet Marley, our 7-year-old black Labrador with a heart as warm as his glossy coat. He’s been our loyal shadow through life’s chaos, cuddles, and crumbs. I’d love a custom portrait to capture his gentle soul and celebrate the best furry big brother our daughter could ever have.

  • My goofy pup’s endless energy and soulful eyes deserve a custom portrait—a forever reminder of the joy and laughter they bring every single day. 🐾❤️

  • My elder Rottweiler Tanner is the goofiest beast you’ll ever meet. He gets excited about the smallest of things which makes him leap around like a puppy. He’s my heart and soul and is the best protector to my 2 young children. He’s so gentle and loyal and I couldn’t have asked for a better boy.

  • Our gorgeous fur Baby Lola was gifted to our daughter for her 13th birthday, our daughter lost her Aunty in August 2018 and we decided to buy a puppy to cheer our girl up, I feel like a piece of her aunty is in our dog, she loves everyone and is so affectionate, my sister in law used to play the piano, and every time the piano is being used our Lola sits up on the piano chair and sits and listens to the music, this is where she is in her happy place, I think a portrait of her on the wall with the piano would be the perfect fit for our home ❤️

  • Because my groodle’s face deserves more fame than the possuml he’s been chasing for three years straight—finally, a portrait worthy of his drama

  • Hi Hayley! Firstly may I say that, wow, you are so incredibly talented! I’d be honored to win this amazing competition to have my beautiful dog Charlie, captured forever in one of your pieces. Charlie is a friendly, mini-foxie, now nearing the end of his lovely little life at 15 years old. This is the dog you would clone if you could. Very friendly, not yappy and loves all dogs and humans he meets. I have this fantastic photo of him on the beach, leather jacket on, mouth open, his tan & brown coat glistening with his eyes squinting in the sun. My beautiful daughter will be to young to remember him when he goes, so having a portrait of him would mean the world to our family.

  • Jasper was our first dog as a couple and he recently passed due to old age..i would love this to remember him by and as a gift to ky hisband

  • A custom photo of our cute baby Crumpet (kitten) would be the ultimate 40th bday gift to my fiancé. She has him completely smitten – not bad for a “dog person”

  • My dog’s a furry chaos queen—perfect for a portrait to remind me she’s cute, even when she steals my bras and hides my sanity!

  • My husband ran over my dog and always tells the kids that I am not a good driver. I would love a custom portrait of her in the house as a sweet silent reminder. I also miss her a lot and it still hurts even after 5years.

  • I love all of them the same but, as the only canine living with 3 felines, I’d have to nominate our little mini fox terror (not a spelling mistake) for a portrait. He has little-dog syndrome and acts tough around other dogs, but he’s really just a scaredy (non-feline) cat.

  • My Pretty Pussycat Pearl sits so nicely for a photograph. I would really love Hayley to capture her sweetness in a custom portrait.
